Pacific Valley Christian School

Pacific Valley Christian School

As another school year winds down across the Valley, Pacific Valley Christian School is celebrating a year of meaningful growth both in numbers and in heart. Principal Brett Sharrick sat down with School Chatter to share how 2024 unfolded and what lies ahead for this vibrant, faith-centered community.

A YEAR OF SERVICE & CONNECTION

This year, Pacific Valley students have been stepping beyond textbooks and classrooms.

“Our young people have excelled in serving their community locally and soon internationally.”
 Principal Brett Sharrick

Local service projects have continued to anchor the school’s mission, but the coming weeks will see an extraordinary opportunity: a student group headed to Vanuatu to learn from and support the island community.

“This isn’t just a trip,” Sharrick explains. “It’s a chance for our young people to grow as people to understand another culture and contribute in meaningful ways.”

THE BUZZ OF A GROWING CAMPUS

Walk through the school grounds and the energy is unmistakable. Enrolments are steadily climbing, new faces are arriving, and classrooms are alive with activity.

But for Sharrick, growth isn’t just about student numbers.

What ‘Growth’ Really Means at Pacific Valley

Four pillars of student development:

  • Well-being: nurturing the whole child
  • Learning: encouraging curiosity and excellence
  • Character: building kindness and resilience
  • Citizenship: shaping active, informed community members

“We want every student to feel valued, supported, and capable,” he says. “Their internal growth is our top priority.”

THE PACIFIC VALLEY DIFFERENCE

At the heart of the school’s identity is its Christian foundation.

“We love and care for each child as though they are created by God.”

Sharrick speaks passionately about the school’s commitment to placing Christ at the centre of its teaching and relationships. The result? Graduates who leave with both knowledge and purpose.

Some pursue trades. Others move into healthcare or professional pathways. But the school celebrates them all the same.

“It’s not about what they choose,” Sharrick says. “It’s about who they become.”

LOOKING TOWARD 2026

With the new year fast approaching, Pacific Valley Christian School isn’t slowing down. A major focus for 2026 will be strengthening parent engagement, an area highlighted in recent parent and staff surveys.

To meet that need, the school is preparing to launch the Pacific Valley Parents & Friends Group a fresh, community-building initiative designed to enhance school-family partnership.

COMING IN 2026:

A new Parents & Friends group

Community-led events

Increased family engagement

Stronger school-home connections

“We’ve made a start,” Sharrick says, “but we’re ready to take it further. We want our families to feel deeply connected to their school.”

HOLIDAY WISHES FOR THE VALLEY

As the interview wrapped up, Sharrick offered warm Christmas wishes to the entire Pacific Valley community.

“To all our families, staff, and students have a wonderful Christmas and a safe holiday. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year.”
